Journal Entry
This is one of the Journal entries we did in class for Language Arts. It is one of the most interesting topics I've written about this year and I was glad I got to write my most deepest thoughts about this particular topic. Hope you like it!

“If the word ‘Truth’ is defined the same for everyone, why does it mean different things to different people?”
The word “truth” is a generalized term and everyone has different ways of thinking about the truth, whether it may be about people, circumstances or maybe even news. When you say the word “truth,” the word itself means the same thing to everyone; something they believe. It’s just that everyone has his or her own version or perspective of the truth.
Just take religion, for example, every religion has their own set of norms. In almost every religion, there are sub-groups but overall everyone believes in that one basic fact; the foundation of the whole religion itself. Now, within those sub-groups, there are some different beliefs, may be because of their roots, or maybe because of the surrounding influences but no one can say that the way they do things are wrong because that’s their way of interpreting the truth and reality. When you think about it, does it matter that much? In the end, you’re all following the same basic religion just because there are some differences, it doesn’t mean it’s not the truth.
You look at the happenings of 9/11 and when you go and hear about what people think happened, you’ll find a million different theories about it. I can believe that George Bush had something to do with it, that he was the one to terrorize America so that the people would re-elect him, because they would be terrified and needed help making him seem like a hero. Some people may believe me, be convinced that nothing else sounds good enough to be the truth whereas others may argue backing up their theories because that how they see it, their perspective, what they believe is the truth and no one can say without hesitation that what their interpretation is wrong. In any way, no one’s theories, as convincing as it may sound, will ever change the truth, which is the fact that 9/11 took place. People saw it, heard about it, witnessed it and no one can deny that it didn’t happen, but they can argue how it happened.
The truth is different to everyone because everybody wants to believe a different story, come up with different reasoning to comfort themselves. It’s sort of like a lawyer arguing a case, if he’s able to convince enough people, it becomes the truth and even the worst criminal can easily be saved. Isn’t that what the word “truth” means? Different perspectives of different people—that’s how I see it; it’s my perspective of the truth.
