Afra's Portfolio: French Skit

This is a skit Tess and I did for our French Project. We decided to do something different rather than just going up in front of the class and presenting. Plus we got to use different types of props and it turned out to be really good & fun.

Biography

My name is Afra. I'm not the average, everyday person you meet in your life from time to time. I'm the happiest person around. I love being enthusiastic and making people smile even through the hard times. They say laughter is the best medicine and personally I don't doubt that for one moment. I believe that even a little smile towards a stranger can make their day and make you feel good as well. You never know when you might need a similar gesture. Besides that, I'm a good student. I study hard, achieve to get my work done and manage to get good grades. I played the Clarinet and currently play the French Horn in my school band. I have an average sized family that consists of my parents and two brothers. I love listening to music but more than anything I love a good read. I enjoy doing homework especially if it's math, which might strike as odd for a teenager. I can be friendly or reserved, dynamic or subtle, completely crazy or completely committed and serious. I have various traits but for now, you know two of the many sides in my complex personality.

Beliefs on education

The way I've been raised, I always thought that you needed to be a top-scoring student and ace every single test or quiz to survive in this world. Without getting a 90+ in every subject, you wouldn't be able to get a job at all. I used to believe all this was true just four years ago but not anymore. I've learned that everyone has a different style of learning and they're all good at something, different from the rest. Education is key in everyone's life and everyone should be given the opportunity. In the end though, I feel as if only the people that receive higher marks or better jobs are treated fairly. The people that have low-profile jobs are treated as if they're unimportant even though they have the same amount of qualifications and I strongly believe it shouldn't work that way. In my life, I would like to attend a good university and be able to extend and apply my knowledge in fields of interest to me so that I may be able to reach my goals. I love to learn about new topics and I hope I'll get the chance to in the future but not in the same way that it's given attention to these days.

Future Goals

My long-term goals seem to have been the same as they were ever since I first started setting goals for myself. Although my short-term goals are always changing and keep growing in terms of numbers. For now though, my current goals is to get a job this summer but I am most eager to be able to learn how to drive and get a license. As I am an academic person, most of my goals are related to academics. Such as getting a scholarship, being able to get into a top university in the future and participating in the school science fair. Some of my goals are already in action. Such as, I am going to be competing in the Bio-Talent challenge, which is an advanced science fair and also I am looking at competitive exams I can take by next year to get a scholarship. As I see it, I’m not too far away from my goals, if I work hard enough I’m confident I’ll be able to achieve them.
